Costs

We'll always send you a finalized quote before anything is charged to your credit card.

The total cost for using Madi's Remailing Service consists of the following:

1. Service fees

There are two types of service fee for Madi's Remailing Service:

  1. A Handling fee of $10 per shipment
  2. A Receiving & Repacking fee of $5 per package.

So, for example:

  • An order that arrives at our warehouse in one box would cost $15 ($10 Handling fee + $5 Receiving & Repacking fee).
  • A bigger order that comes in two boxes would cost $20 ($10 Handling fee + 2 x $5 Receiving & Repacking fee).
  • An order from multiple stores that arrives in six boxes would cost $40 ($10 Handling fee + 6 x $5 Receiving & Repacking fee).

Please note that sometimes we can't put everything into one box due to the weight or size of the items. When this happens we have to send more than one box and apply a charge for each one.

2. Air Freight Costs

This is the actual cost of sending your package from Los Angeles to your destination in Japan plus the current fuel surcharge, as charged by the air freight companies.

The following table shows the current charges, based on the Billable Weight in pounds (lb).

15 $77.86 30 $117.88 45 $160.08
Due to rising fuel costs a 5% fuel surcharge is added. This charge is only added to the shipping charge (the chart above) and not the handling or repacking fees.

* Please note that any packages over 62 linear inches (Length + Width + Height) will need to be individually quoted as they exceed the regular small package guidelines. We ship bigger items all the time and the rates are also very good - sometimes amazingly good - but this chart does not accurately reflect prices.

The freight cost is based on “Billable Weight”. This is calculated as the greater of:

  • Actual weight in pounds
  • Dimensional (DIM) weight

DIM weight is calculated by multipluying the Length, Width and Height (in inches) and dividing by 139. For example a 24 inch by 48 inch by 10 inch box would have a DIM weight of: 24 x 48 x 10 / 139 = 83. So, even if this box only weighed 50 lb, it would be charged at a Billable Weight of 83 lb.
